Today started like any other day. Another day stuck to the confinements of the place we call home. The pandemic has left us “safer at home” for over a month now. We have managed to get through these times. Days run on with homework, housework, meals and activities. I have found myself more at work now then a day at work has called from me in years. Honestly, though not always easy the extra time at home has been great and I wouldn’t want it any other way. As some you know I am a newlywed and a mommy to a young one who is 8. I feel blessed to have the extra time with them. I am grateful that we are not struggling like I know many out there are.
March 19th, 2020 was the last day I physically worked at Bassett Furniture in Irvine. The following day myself and all my coworkers received the call we were going to be working from home virtually. For the next two weeks I continued to try to carry on business as usual from home the best I could. Soon after we each got the call that they were having to pull back again and to temporarily lay off all store employees.
Fast forward…………A month later.
You’ve read this far, let’s cut to the chase….Today I received a call form my Sales Manager and I have been let go. I understand these times are tough and I know every company has to do what they have to do. I don’t have hard feelings at all. To be honest, I took a huge risk leaving a solid salary with benefits to go after to my dream. Do I regret it now knowing where I am? NO! I learned so much in my short time at Bassett and I am confident that this isn’t goodbye but see you later.
They say when one door closes another one opens. With this extra time I promise to continue to better myself everyday. “The comeback is always greater than the setback.”
Live Your Dreams. Xoxo.
